The North Midlands MND Care and Research Network is based at University Hospitals North Midlands NHS Trust which has sites at Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, Stafford. It cares for patients with ALS throughout Staffordshire and parts of Cheshire.

Royal Stoke University Hospital is a large teaching hospital and the main site of University Hospitals North Midlands NHS Trust which also includes County Hospital in Stafford. Based here is the North Midlands MND Care and Research Network Centre which runs two MND MDT clinics a month, one at each site. The hospital has a generic research department with more than 40 dedicated research staff including those involved in administration.

DAZALS trial

In this study, an investigational oral drug named dazucorilant (also called CORT113176) is being studied in people living with ALS (also known as MND) to understand its safety (side effects) and to determine if dazucorilant can slow down the worsening of the disease. The effects of dazucorilant will be compared to the effects of a placebo. This study is sponsored by Corcept Therapeutics.
