About TRICALS
TRICALS is the largest European research initiative to find a cure for ALS. We are a network of over 60 top research centres in more than 19 countries. Our one goal is to find effective treatments for people living with ALS.

Access to trials for people living with ALS
To date, ALS is an incurable disease. The dilemma for someone thinking about whether to participate in a trial is very personal and should be given proper consideration. For most people it feels like their last hope, their contribution to finding the cure. They feel valued. Therefore, it is very important that trials are accessible to people living with ALS.
- As TRICALS we have established ourselves as a main partner for pharma and biotech companies in developing trials. We strive to include our TRICALS centres in newly desgined trials, we advise on protocol and guide companies through the ALS field.
- Our website presents an overview of active trials, including the European locations where people can participate. This makes it easier for patients to find all relevant details about the trial and how and where to participate.
- TRICALS has created its own registry for patients. By subscribing to this registry, we can alert people living with ALS when there is a new trial, in which they may be able to participate in. This way, they are the first to know. The registry also generates a lot of relevant research data. We regularly send subscribers questionnaires about their well-being. These data are used in scientific research.

Innovate trial design
MAGNET (Multi-Adaptive Global Network of Efficient Trials) is a TRICALS initiative, with the goal to for clinical trials in ALS. In MAGNET the scientific rigor of TRICALS and the operational experience of a clinical research organization (CRO) are combined to run the best possible trial. Standardized study protocols have been developed with innovative study designs to make sure clinical trials within ALS reach a conclusive outcome with minimal patient burden.
Train and educate ALS professionals
To ensure we have the best people working on ALS trials we offer both live and online training (sessions) on multiple ALS outcome measures. We have created the TRICALS Academy where people can enroll in live and online courses after which they receive official certification – this is endorsed by pharma and biotech companies.
