Tricals - The highway towards a cure
ALS Center at Department of Neurology

Oslo University Hospital

Norway - Oslo

The ALS Center conducts nationwide clinical studies, including both investigator-initiated and sponsor-initiated trials, alongside other research projects. Supporting 50–60 patients annually and 20+ new diagnoses each year, we focus on advancing ALS research while improving care and outcomes for patients and their families.

The ALS Center at the Department of Neurology, Oslo University Hospital, is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting individuals with ALS. Our team includes nurses, physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals who work together to provide comprehensive care.

Alongside our clinical services, we host a dedicated clinical trial unit within the Department of Neuroscience. Here, experienced study coordinators and research nurses work closely with ALS physicians and principal investigators to plan and run ALS studies.

We treat between 50 and 60 patients at any given time and see at least 20 newly diagnosed patients each year. As a tertiary referral center, we assess patients from across our region and, for clinical ALS studies, accept participants from all over Norway.

Our research spans beyond clinical trials to include projects on long-term ventilation , biomarker studies and epidemiology. Our mission is to continually improve the quality of care and multidisciplinary support we provide to people with ALS and their families.
