The core MND team at Aarhus University hospital consists of neurologists, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, a neuropsychologist and a social worker. The multidisciplinary care also includes very close collaboration with the Regional Respiratory Center, the Palliative and Supportive Care Unit, the Danish National Rehabilitation Center for Neuromuscular Diseases and other MND teams in Denmark.
The MND team was established in the mid-nineties and covers the Central Denmark Region (1.3 million)
In addition to participating in medical clinical trials the research activities in ALS covers clinical neuroimaging studies (investigating potential neuroimaging biomarkers and metabolic neuroimaging) and clinical studies regarding the effect of ALS on muscles.
